Printing hints

  • For best results turn off any ‘page scaling’ or ‘fit to page’ options in your print settings
  • Make the flashcards last longer by printing and laminating them before cutting
  • There’s a handy pouch template included in each download which will keep the flashcards nice and tidy.

Tips on using the alphabet flashcards

Here are a few quick tips to help you have fun and make the most of the alphabet flashcards

Use in short, frequent bursts

Start off with short 5-10 minute sessions and build up slowly. If your child loses interest it’s a good idea to stop and carry on at a later time. It is better to have short, frequent sessions than long, infrequent ones.

Make sure your child is alert

Use the flashcards when your child is awake and alert, trying to teach a tired and cranky child will simply get both of you frustrated.

Get rid of distractions

Make sure the area where you are doing flashcard activities is free from any distractions, put away any toys and turn off the TV and any other devices so that both of you can focus on the task at hand.

Give plenty of praise and encouragement

The most important thing is that you are enthusiastic and that you give your child lots of encouragement and praise. Your child will pick up on your enthusiasm and will respond positively.
